It happened to be the hottest day of the year so far.

We met outside Tate St.Ives at midday. Three of us came by train, two by open-top bus, one by car and one didn't arrive. We saw an exhibition of paintings by William Scott and photographs by Peter Fraser. We had varied opinions about these works and appreciated things for different reasons. One of us knew a gallery attendant and chatted with them about family life then introduced another of our group who showed them through his sketchbooks. 

We walked along Porthmeor beach and had our picnic lunch on Porthgwidden beach. One of us swam in the sea, another made a still life drawing while someone else picked up other people's rubbish and put it in a bin. We reminisced, about many things including progressive rock. 

We went to the Barbara Hepworth Museum. From one of her garden studios we saw a seagull masquerading as a rabbit.
