Today has been our annual Open Day. We opened our doors and many of our supporters and some new people came to celebrate our new funding from National Lottery Community Fund. We offered four different activities - spinner drawing, colour theory, sculpture from junk and treasure pouches. We shared a vegan lunch of soup, bread, jacket potatoes, salads and plentiful cake! A good day was had by all.

Open Day,
Thursday, March 21st, at the Breadline Building, Bread Street, Penzance, TR18 EQ, between 11 and 2! Lucy, our former cook, returned to us to deliver a talk about her recent trip to Palestine with EAPPI (Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel). We went to Redwing Gallery for the talk as there was noisy work taking place at Breadline and Redwing have projection facilities. Following her talk we returned to Breadline for lunch and continued discussion. We had an exciting day with Josh Quick of Wild St.Ives walking along 'Clodgy', the cliff top above Porthmeor Beach discovering what is safe to eat and what is definitely not (hemlock!) as well as medicinal and practical uses of various plants. Josh then made us a meal from foraged ingredients including three cornered leek pesto and moroccan potatoes, which included foraged herbs and spices previously dried and mint tea. It was a delicious feast in the extraordinary environment of his cliff-top allotment. many thanks to Josh for his wisdom and professional yet relaxed approach to teaching. |
"Taking time for the day-to-day reveals a quiet place within oneself where tiny glimmers of inspiration and wonder can emerge which, added one to another, become vital nourishment for the future of humanity."
